On this log I try to document things I find interesting on my day-to-day. The idea is to look back at it over time and see how things have evolved, and since I am logging them I may as well share them here on my site.
Infrared
This week I got a camera that I had converted to infrared, they replace the regular low-pass filter and use a 720nm filter that doesn’t block out IR light.
The colors look very different than normal, on this photo the jacket and cap were all black. Some light does not reflect at all, if the sky is a certain shade of blue it just shows up black, and all trees look white. Definitely a fun thing to try out and get a different type of photos.
I had made a ‘fake’ IR photo in photoshop, and a couple with a filter on the lens, but that’s a bit more complicated because you can’t see anything to frame the shot before taking it and it takes longer to expose it.
