A gift from Lili.
Today was the last day at my (now old) job. It’s been quite a ride, I started with one company and have been through two acquisitions, one relocation, three office moves and many changes in the past few years. I’ve learned a whole lot, and met some great people along the way.
As I left the office today for the last time I had a feeling similar to when I finished college: very excited about what’s next but also felt I was leaving something behind, which obviously always happens when you’re at the same place with the same people for a long time. I’m ready for the change however, and I know this was most definitely the right choice for me.
Starts in 2 weeks.
Garden Soil
One of the guys at work left for China to visit his family for a month, so one of the other guys decided we should cover his desk in tin foil. I contributed with a couple of things and here’s how it ended up looking like, pretty impressive! let’s see what he says when he’s back next week.
Here’s another photo:

I don’t usually eat stuff with too many artificial colors, but today I ate these at the same time… Probably not good for me but I guess once in a while it doesn’t matter (I hope).
I saw this “Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0 L IS USM” coffee mug online, apparently Canon was giving out to photographers at the Vancouver Olympics. I want one, supposedly they will begin selling some in April but it’s also already out of stock even for pre-orders.
It’s snowing and it’s March 2nd. Spring should be around the corner but still no sign of it.
Infrared
This week I got a camera that I had converted to infrared, they replace the regular low-pass filter and use a 720nm filter that doesn’t block out IR light.
The colors look very different than normal, on this photo the jacket and cap were all black. Some light does not reflect at all, if the sky is a certain shade of blue it just shows up black, and all trees look white. Definitely a fun thing to try out and get a different type of photos.
I had made a ‘fake’ IR photo in photoshop, and a couple with a filter on the lens, but that’s a bit more complicated because you can’t see anything to frame the shot before taking it and it takes longer to expose it.
